Colombo stock exchange continues to make history

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) continued to make history with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) reaching a new milestone, crossing the 16,000-points mark for the first time in history.

ASPI gained 403.94 points to close at 16,348.55 on Thursday.

The S&P SL20 gained 111.99 points to close at 4,974.09 points, an increase by 2.30%.

Total turnover for the day was recorded at over Rs. 12.86 billion.

The ASPI has been on an upward trend over the past few weeks, following the Parliament elections in November. (Colombo Gazette)

Minor tremor reported off Vavuniya

A minor tremor was reported off Vavuniya, Tuesday night, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) said. The tremor measured 2.3 on the Richter scale and there were no reports of any damage. The tremor was recorded at the seismic stations at Pallekele, Mahakanadarawa and Hakmana. However, the GSMB said there was no threat of a major earthquake to Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
