Lohan Ratwatte granted bail after apology and compensation offer

Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte who was remanded over a drunk driving accident in Colombo, was granted bail after he tendered an apology in court and offered compensation to the aggrieved party.

Lawyers said that Ratwatte was granted bail after the aggrieved party agreed to settle to a settlement.

The former State Minister was arrested and remanded after his Land Rover Defender had crashed into a car recently.

He was also accused of threatening the driver of the other vehicle and verbally abusing the Police.

The accident was reported in the Kollupitiya area and the former State Minister was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

The arrest came just a day after he and his wife were released on bail in relation to the illegal importation and assembly of a luxury car in?Sri Lanka.?(Colombo Gazette)
