Kabir, Shanakiyan, Jeewan among those returning to Parliament

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s Kabir Hashim, Illangai Thamil Arasu Katchi member Shanakiyan Rasamanickam and Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) General Secretary Jeevan? Thondaman are among those elected to return to Parliament.

They were elected in their respective districts at the 2024 Parliament Elections.

Batticaloa is the only district out of 22 electoral district that the National Peoples Power (NPP) lost.

ITAK received 96,751 votes in Batticaloa and won 3 seats.

Rasamanickam received 65,468 preferential votes ib Batticaloa, which is the highest preferential votes received by any candidate in the history of Batticaloa beating the previous highest of 57,000

The second person on the list got 22,000 votes, a gap of almost 43,000. (Colombo Gazette)
