Former Ministers Manusha and Ramesh kicked out of Parliament

Former Ministers Manusha Nanayakkara and Ramesh Pathirana have been kicked out of Parliament at the 2024 Parliament Elections from the Galle District.

The National People’s Power (NPP) won the polls in the Galle District securing 7 seats (406,428 votes) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) got 1 seat (93,486 votes) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna secured 1 seat (31,201 votes).

The New Democratic Front under which Manusha Nanayakkara and Ramesh Pathirana contested, failed to secure a seat in Parliament from Galle.

Accordingly the two former Ministers will not be elected in the new Parliament.

Nanayakkara was the Minister of Foreign Employment in the Ranil Wickremesinghe administration and Ramesh Pathirana the Minister of Health. (Colombo Gazette)

Five people admitted to hospital after Horana explosion

Five people have been admitted to hospital following an explosion in Horana. The Police said that the five people had been admitted to hospital after an ammonia gas cylinder exploded at a rubber factory in Ingiriya, Horana. The explosion occurred when the cylinder fell while being unloaded from a truck. (Colombo Gazette)
