Villagers threaten pastor Jerome Fernando in Nawalapitiya

Villagers had allegedly threatened controversial preacher pastor Jerome Fernando when he attempted to inaugurate a prayer mountain in Nawalapitiya.
In a Facebook post, Jerome Fernando said that a policeman also warned him that the public can throw him out like the way they removed former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
“Travelled 130 km to inaugurate the prayer mountain this morning, only to be threatened by trespassing villagers, disallowed to pray on Church property, commanded to leave the property, thrown mud at and was sarcastically spoken to by a police officer that if they threw a president out of the country then they can do the same to me.
This is part and parcel of the calling of a Prophet and this comes to me as no surprise.
Sri Lanka needs Help!” Fernando said on his Facebook post without naming the location.
A villager told reporters that they were initially told that a rehabilitation center for children was being constructed at the location.
However, he said that a tense situation arose when pastor Jerome Fernando arrived at the location.
The villager said that they had to obtain the support of the Police to remove Fernando from the area and prevent a violent situation from taking place. (Colombo Gazette)
