Special security measures for tourists visiting Sri Lanka

Special security measures are to be put in place for tourists visiting Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Police said.

Issuing a statement, the Police said that the Ministry of Public Security has issued instructions to the Police to ensure the safety and security of tourists in Sri Lanka.

The Police said that a number of tourists are expected to visit the country during the tourist season.

The Police said that it is their responsibility to ensure an environment is created for tourists to be safe and enjoy their holiday in Sri Lanka.

Taking into consideration the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, it has been decided to implement special security measures for tourists in the country.

Tourists will be able to contact the Sri Lanka Police on hotline 1997 effective immediately , if they face any threats.

Employees and staff of tourist hotels have also been advised to act within their limits to ensure the safety and security of tourists. (Colombo Gazette)
