Popular YouTube personality Ashen Senarathna’s nomination rejected

The nomination submitted on behalf of popular YouTube personality Ashen Senarathna to contest the upcoming Parliament elections, has been rejected.

Senaratne said his nomination was rejected on the basis that there was an issue over the person who handed over the nomination papers on his behalf.

The YouTube personality expressed outrage over the issue and accused the Election Commission of being corrupt.

The YouTube personality, who promoted Ranil Wickremesinghe at the last Presidential Election, was to contest from Colombo as an independent candidate.

At the 2019 Presidential election Senaratne promoted Sajith Premadasa but later expressed regret over his decision saying he lost everything he had at the time. (Colombo Gazette)

Chinese tourist dies after falling from 3rd floor of Nuwara Eliya hotel

A?Chinese tourist died after falling from the 3rd floor of a hotel in Nuwara Eliya today, the Police said. The Chinese tourist was on a trip with another group to?Nuwara Eliya when the accident took place. It was reported that she was on the balcony when she fell and died of severe injuries. Vehicle prices to shoot up following Rupee depreciation

The price of motor vehicles will increase following the depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee, vehicle importers said. The Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers Association said that the price of motor vehicles will increase by at least Rs. 250,000.
