Shehan Semasinghe expresses disappointment and withdraws

Former State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe withdrew from the Parliament elections after expressing disappointment over the outcome of the recent Presidential election.

Issuing a lengthy statement, Semasinghe said that the people chose promises as opposed to results.

He said the people rejected the work carried out by the former Government to contain the economic crisis.

Semasinghe said that he has decided not to contest the Parliament election but will remain in politics and work for the people in his electorate. (Colombo Gazette)
