ITAK leader Mavai Senathirajah steps down

Illangai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) leader Mavai Senathirajah has resigned from his post.

Senathirajah has written to former MP S. Sritharan to assume duties as the ITAK leader.

In January ITAK elected Sritharan its new leader through a secret ballot held at the eastern port district of Trincomalee.

However, Sritharan did not assume the leadership role resulting in Senathirajah continuing as the ITAK leader.

Senathirajah said that he had urged Sritharan to assume the leadership role on numerous occasions since January.

The former MP said that he has now decided to step down from the post with effect from 7th October.

He urged Sritharan to take over as ITAK leader with immediate effect. (Colombo Gazette)

SLPP National List seat on offer for Gotabaya

A National List seat in Parliament of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has been offered to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, if he decides to continue in politics. Rajapaksa has so far not indicated any intention to continue in politics after being forced out of office in July. PM Modi tops list of most popular world leaders with 75 pc rating: Survey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again topped the global rating amongst world leaders with an approval rating of 75 per cent, according to a Morning Consult survey.
