Security of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe not withdrawn

The security of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has not been withdrawn, his former advisor Ruwan Wijewardene said.
Issuing a special statement, Wijewardene said that false claims were made that Wickremesinghe’s security detail had been withdrawn.
He said that the claims are false and that the Police have also clarified that his Police security still remains.
The Police said that 163 officers have been assigned for the protection of Wickremesinghe.
Wijewardene also claimed that a mudslinging campaign had been launched against Wickremesinghe by groups linked to the Government.
He said the attempt was to discredit the former President who had done a lot for the country during the economic crisis. (Colombo Gazette)
