President assures impartial probe into Easter Sunday attacks

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assured an impartial investigation into the Easter Sunday attacks.

He gave the assurance during a visit to the Katuwapitiya church in Negombo on Sunday.

The church was among the locations bombed during the Easter Sunday attacks in 2019.

The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, who was also present, said that how the attackers got the explosives and who assisted them is still a mystery.

He said that past leaders failed to ensure justice and so this time the public have placed their trust in Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The President assured his administration will not allow the investigations to be swept under the carpet.

He said there is suspicion among the public if the attack was carried out to make political changes in the country.

The President also noted that it is concerning if those who were meant to prevent the arracks had actually assisted the bombers. (Colombo Gazette)
