SLFP Nimal Siripala faction to contest under ‘gas cylinder’ symbol

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) faction led by Nimal Siripala de Silva has decided to contest the Parliament Elections under the ‘gas cylinder’ symbol.

The group which backed Ranil Wickremesinghe at the last Presidential Election, has decided to remain with the symbol under which he contested and work with the broad alliance he had formed.

However, former MP Nimal Siripala de Silva told reporters that the SLFP will contest separately at the local government elections.

Wickremesinghe has already decided not to contest at the Parliament Elections.

Several former MPs who backed Wickremesinghe at the Presidential polls have also decided not to contest at the Parliament election. (Colombo Gazette)
