Sri Lankans stranded in Lebanon and given shelter

A few Sri Lankans are stranded in Lebanon and have been given shelter, the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut said.

The security situation in Lebanon is volatile and constantly evolving.

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut is maintaining constant contact with Sri Lankan Associations and individual Sri Lankans registered with the Embassy.

Ambassador Kapila Jayaweera and officers of the Sri Lanka Embassy are providing assistance to Sri Lankans as required.

Apart from a few Sri Lankans who have been stranded and for whom the Embassy has arranged shelter, no Sri Lankans have been seriously affected by the situation so far. (Colombo Gazette)

Flight scheduled to bring back Sri Lankans stranded in Qatar cancelled

A flight scheduled to bring back Sri Lankans stranded in Qatar has been cancelled, the Foreign Ministry said today. Foreign Secretary?Ravinatha Aryasinha said that in consultation with the Minister of Foreign Relations Dinesh Gunawardena, he has instructed Sri Lanka?s Acting Ambassador in Qatar, as an interim measure, to immediately find accommodation for those stranded, following the cancellation of the Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Qatar, which was scheduled for today. More Sri Lankans return from Russia

Another batch of Sri Lankans, who were stranded in Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake this morning. SriLankan Airlines Media Spokesman Deepal Perera told the Colombo Gazette that 181 Sri Lankans were repatriated from Moscow, Russia. The group was repatriated via special flight UL 1206 chartered by SriLankan Airlines. Upon landing, the group were disinfected and transported to quarantine centers. This is the 2nd batch of
