SJB throws in the towel and congratulates AKD

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has conceded defeat at the 2024 Presidential Election and congratulated National People’s Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

SJB Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva said that it is clear Dissanayake will be the new President.

He said he called Dissanayake and wished him for the road ahead.

“We campaigned hard for?@sajithpremadasa?but it was not to be. It is now clear?@anuradisanayake?will be the new President of #SriLanka. In the spirit of democracy and goodwill I called and wished my friend the best in the arduous road ahead,” Dr. Harsha de Silva said on X.

The final results of the Presidential Election have not yet been announced but Dissanayake is leading in the results released so far.

Foreign Minister Ali Sabry also conceded, Sunday, that incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe has lost the 2024 Presidential Election.

Sabry said that after a long and arduous campaign, the results of the election are now clear. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka reiterates stand that it will not return Katchatheevu
