Indictments filed against Diana Gamage

Indictments have been filed against former State Minister Diana Gamage for obtaining a Sri Lankan passport using false documents.

The indictments were filed by the Attorney General before the Colombo High Court.

In May Gamage was granted bail by the?Colombo?Magistrate?s Court after being accused of obtaining a passport by producing false information.

She was named as a suspect by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Diana Gamage was this year stripped of her Parliament seat following a landmark Supreme Court judgement.

The Supreme Court ruled that Gamage was not legally qualified to hold a parliamentary seat. (Colombo Gazette)

Mahinda asserts Mahendran must face legal action

New 15 percent VAT to come into effect from November

The 15 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) and the Nation Building Tax will come into effect from November 1, the Ministry of Finance said. The VAT Amendment Bill was passed by Parliament yesterday.
