Luxury bus service launched between BIA and Colombo suspended

The luxury bus service launched between the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Colombo has been suspended following protests.

Private luxury bus operators protested against the introduction of the luxury bus service from the airport to Colombo by the Government.

The luxury bus service was launched just 5 days ago in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Highways as a part of ongoing commitment to improving airport accessibility and convenience for passengers and airport visitors.

This luxury bus service was to provide a seamless and comfortable connection between the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Colombo City. The service operated from 0600 hrs to 1800 hrs, linking the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with Port City, Colombo Fort Railway Station, Colombo Main Bus Stop, and the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Center. Air Force member arrested at BIA for smuggling gold

A Sri Lanka Air Force member was arrested for smuggling gold, the Sri Lanka Air Force media unit said. The Airman is attached to the Bandaranaike International Airport. He was detained by customs officers while attempting to smuggle the gold. Investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)
