Deposit handed over for Anura to contest polls

A deposit was handed over to the Election Commission on behalf of National People?s Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake to contest the upcoming Presidential Election.

MPs Vijitha Herath and Dr. Harini Amarasuriya were among those present when the deposit was handed over to the Election Commission.

Dissanayake is leading the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) led NPP alliance at the polls.

The Presidential election is scheduled to take place on 21st September.

Incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa and MP Sarath Fonseka are among those who have placed their deposits. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka recorded its highest daily coronavirus cases yesterday (Monday), officials said today. A total of 997 people were found to be infected with the coronavirus yesterday. Concerns raised Colombo Port will be monitored using Port City

Concerns had been raised that the Colombo Port City will be used to illegally monitor the Colombo Port.? The concerns had been raised when the former Government was in power, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.
