Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe places deposit to contest polls

Former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe placed a deposit with the Election Commission to contest the upcoming Presidential election.

The deposit was placed by the?National Democratic Front.

Former MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena said that Rajapakshe will be contesting from the National Democratic Front.

He said that Rajapakshe will be leading a broad alliance which includes members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Gunawardena told reporters that several political parties will be joining the alliance to back Rajapakshe at the election.

The Presidential election in Sri Lanka will be held on 21st September. (Colombo Gazette)

Minuwangoda cluster crosses the 8000 mark

Three STF camps isolated, 179 policemen infected

Three Police Special Task Force (STF) camps in Sri Lanka have been isolated following the latest coronavirus outbreak. The Police Media Unit said the STF camps in Kalubowila, Rajagiriya, and Kelaniya were isolated from today.
