Amended bill on Truth, Peace and Reconciliation to be gazetted

The amended bill on Truth, Peace and Reconciliation is to be gazetted and tabled in Parliament.

The Cabinet has approved a joint proposal by President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs to publish the amended Bill in the Government gazette and table it in Parliament.

The Cabinet had earlier approved a proposal at its meeting?held on 15-07-2024 to prepare a new bill amending the bill on Truth, Peace and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka.

“The amended bill takes into consideration the matters forwarded by the parties who are enthusiastic in respect of the said bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman,” a Government statement said on Tuesday.

The Government said the Attorney General has approved the amended bill.

Accordingly, the Cabinet has now approved the joint proposal to publish the amended bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter table it in Parliament for approval. (Colombo Gazette)
