Namal accuses Ranil of attempting to divide the SLPP

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa accused President Ranil Wickremesinghe of dividing the SLPP.

Rajapaksa told reporters the SLPP gave its fullest support to Wickremesinghe to form a Government.

However, he said in return the President attempted to divide the SLPP.

Rajapaksa said this was a habit of Wickremesinghe and not targeted purely at the SLPP.

The former Minister said that Wickremesinghe is known to have created splits in the UNP, the SLFP, the 2015 Government, the JVP and the LTTE.

With regards to the Presidential election, Rajapaksa said the SLPP will take a decision best suited for the country while protecting the party.

A number of SLPP members have already decided to support Wickremesinghe at the election while others are calling for an SLPP candidate. (Colombo Gazette)
