Video goes viral accusing Police of planting heroin in car in Colombo

A video has gone viral on social media accusing the Police of planting heroin in a car while inspecting it in Colombo.

The Police said the incident took place Wednesday morning and denied claims that officers attempted to plant any substance in the vehicle.

A group of youth are heard saying in the video that a Police officer saw some money in the hands of the motorist and attempted to plant the heroin in the car.

The youth are heard saying they were contacting their lawyers at the time of the incident.

However, the Police said the occupants of the car got unruly when the officer found a substance which he believed was cannabis.

The video has gone viral on social media and the Police have launched an investigation saying an attempt was being made to mislead the public. (Colombo Gazette)
