CID drops probe on alleged threats to Harsha

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has dropped an investigation over alleged death threats on MP Dr. Harsha de Silva.?

The CID claimed the probe was suspended after the MP had reportedly said there was no need for such an investigation.

An investigation had been launched over alleged death threats received by MP Dr. Harsha de Silva.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP was allegedly facing pressure to suspend inquiries over the deal between the Government and VFS Global.

Opposition Sajith Premadasa had told Parliament that Dr. de Silva has been subjected to death threats.

Public Security Minister Tiran Alles has directed IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon to investigate the claims.?(Colombo Gazette)

Former Navy spokesman D.K.P Dassanayake further remanded

Former Navy spokesman D K P Dassanayake was further remanded today over the disappearance of eleven youth. Dassanayake and five others were ordered to be remanded till January 2nd by the Fort Magistrate’s court. Dassanayake has been in remand after being arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the disappearance of 11 youth. Hambantota harbour workers protest against China deal

Hambantota harbour workers today staged a protest in Colombo against the deal between the Government and China. The deal gives a Chinese company majority shares in the port. The Hambantota port was formally handed over to a China-led company earlier this month and Sri Lanka received its initial payment for the lease.
