Court grants bail to 51 students, one remanded

The Colombo Magistrates Court today granted bail to 51 students who were involved in a protest in Colombo yesterday. However, one individual was remanded for 14 days by the court. A protest was carried out yesterday by a large crowd of university students from the Inter University Students Federation. Police fired tear gas and water cannons to control and disperse the unruly crowd of students yesterday (24).

Government says no evidence troops intentionally killed civilians

The Government says there is no evidence troops intentionally killed civilians during the war. Health Minister, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that the Government had rejected the ‘Darusman Report’ on Sri Lanka as it had accused the military of targeting civilians during the war.
