CEB unions threaten to strike

Trade unions attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have threatened to go on strike in the event the government fails to address some of their issues. CEB Trade Union member Ranjan Jayalal said that the government must address the salary anomalies issue of the CEB staff without further delay. Karunanidhi slams Champika

A controversial remark reportedly made by Sri Lankan Minister for Power and Energy, Champika Ranawaka has touched a raw nerve in Tamil Nadu. An entire month to fight dengue

The government has decided to declare an entire month to fight the spread of dengue in the country, the Health Ministry said. The dengue eradication month will come into effect from June 25th to July 25th, the Health Ministry said. The decision was taken when Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena convened an urgent meeting today with a Presidential Task Force to combat dengue. At that meeting it was decided to declare an entire month to combat dengue as compared to a week announced in the past
