Navy detains four suspected human smugglers in Talaimannar

The Sri Lanka Navy detained four suspected human smugglers in Talaimannar, the Navy media unit said.

The Navy said that 02 dinghies were also detained during a search operation carried out on Sand Dunes 3, in Talaimannar.

The Navy conducts regular patrols and search operations in the coastal and sea areas of the island to prevent a wide range of illegal activities taking place using the sea routes.

As an extension of these efforts, a special search operation was conducted by SLNS Thammanna and SLNS Gajaba in the North Central Naval Command, deploying Inshore Patrol Craft to Sand Dunes 3.

During the operation, the Navy detained 2 dinghies and arrested four suspects believed to be involved in human smuggling.

The suspects were identified as residents of Pesalei, Mannar. (Colombo Gazette)
