Keheliya removed from Health Minister post

Keheliya Rambukwella was removed from the Health Minister post and appointed as the Minister of Environment.

Dr. Ramesh Pathirana was appointed as the new Minister of Health in addition to his current portfolio as Minister of Industries

Rambukwella’s removal follows a number of allegations raised against the Ministry of Health during his tenure.

He was replaced during a mini-Cabinet reshuffle by President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was sworn in as the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries.

State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was appointed as the Non-Cabinet Minister of Plantation Enterprises, in addition to his current portfolio. (Colombo Gazette)

Sixty Navy personnel at Welisara base contract virus

Sixty Navy personnel attached to the Welisara Navy base have now been confirmed as having contracted the coronavirus, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said today.
