Namal Rajapaksa appointed Sports and Youth Affairs Minister

Namal Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs. This is Namal Rajapaksa’s first Government Ministerial post. In the past he has interned on matters related to sports, especially cricket. He took oaths before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today. Dayasiri Jayasekera relegated to State Minister post

Former cabinet Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera was today relegated to a State Minister post. Jayasekera was appointed State Minister of Batik, Hand-loom, Textiles and Local Apparel Production. Others appointed State Ministers included former Minister Duminda Dissanayake. Maithripala, Mahinda Yapa tipped to be nominated Speaker

Former President Maithripala Sirisena and former Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena are tipped to be nominated for the post of Parliament Speaker. Sirisena and Mahinda Yapa were not given Ministerial posts today. Sources said that Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is likely to be the preferred choice of Speaker although Sirisena had also shown interest.
