Kurunegala doctor arrested over assets, other allegations

A doctor in Kurunegala linked to some politicians has been arrested over assets earned through suspicious means and other allegations. The Police said that the 42-year-old doctor was attached to the Kurunegala Hospital. The doctor was identified as Seigu Siyabdeen Mohammed Shafi, a resident of Kurunegala.

Navy detains nine suspects for illegal fishing

The Navy detained nine suspects for illegal fishing in Trincomalee, the Navy media unit said tdday. The Navy said that sailors attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested the suspects?engaged in fishing using unauthorized fishing nets.
