Lahore thanks Sri Lanka for providing human eye cornea globes

Lahore Governor Balighur Rehman has thanked Sri Lanka for providing five human eye cornea globes.?

Rehman had telephoned the Honorary Consul General of Sri Lanka, Yasin Joya and appreciated and thanked him for providing five human eye cornea globes from Sri Lanka to the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital.

The Governor said last month a memorandum of understanding was signed between Sri Lanka Lahore Business Council, and Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur at the Governor?s House.

As a result of the MoU, five (5) globes of human eye cornea from Sri Lanka have been handed over to Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur.

He said that in the last two years, Honorable Consul General Yasin Joya has so far provided 70 globes of human eye corneas and transplanted them to the Pakistani brothers and sisters, which is commendable. (The News / Colombo Gazette)

Mobile phones, laptops recovered from Mirihana detainees

Several mobile phones and laptops have been recovered from detainees held at the Mirihana detention centre. A joint raid was carried out by the Police and the Special Task Force (STF) at the Immigration and Emigration detention centre in Mirihana. The detention centre in Mirihana is used to detain foreigners arrested over visa related violations. During the raid, 75 mobile phones and five laptops were recovered. (Colombo Gazette)

Switzerland denies claims visa for Sri Lankans suspended

Switzerland has denied claims that processing visa applications for Sri Lankans has been suspended. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said that the Swiss Embassy has not stopped proceeding visa applications.
