YouTuber Sepal Amarasinghe further remanded

YouTuber Sepal Amarasinghe has been further remanded until 21st February over a controversial statement he had made.

Amarasinghe has been in remand over the controversial statements he had made with regards to the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy.

An investigation had been launched against Amarasinghe after Inspector-General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne received written complaints in this regard.

The chief prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters, the Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero and Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero also wrote to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, raising concerns about the offensive statements made by Amarasinghe.

He was later arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on 05th January.?(Colombo Gazette)

Rameswaram fishermen strike against Lankan navy

Fishermen in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu?launched an indefinite strike yesterday demanding that the authorities trace four fishermen, who went missing after their boat sank on November 29 and also protested against repeated arrests by the Sri Lankan navy.
