The?Director General of the Government Information Department, Ranga Kalansooriya has tendered his resignation. Kalansooriya, a senior journalist and the founding Director-General of the Sri Lanka Press Institute, assumed duties as the Director General of the Government Information Department in June last year.

One person killed in accident involving Parliamentarian’s vehicle

One person was killed in an accident today involving a Parliamentarian’s vehicle?in the Karangawa area. The Police said that United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Wimalaweera Dissanayaka was travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The vehicle had crashed into a motorcycle resulting in the death of one person while another person sustained injuries. The driver of the vehicle was arrested. (Colombo Gazette)
