Dinesh Schaffter dies in hospital following shocking incident

Top businessman, Dinesh Schaffter, who was found in critical condition, tied inside his car at the Borella General Cemetery, passed away while receiving treatment in hospital.

The 52-year-old businessman had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Colombo General Hospital.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the incident.

Investigations had revealed that Schaffter had gone missing after leaving his home.

He had informed his wife that he was going to meet an individual who owed him huge sums of money.

Schaffter was later found by one of his employees tied inside his car at the Borella General Cemetery, in critical condition.

In 2019, Schaffter had filed a complaint against a popular cricket commentator accusing him of fraud.

The complaint had been investigated at the time and the cricket commentator was arrested and remanded and later released on bail. (Colombo Gazette)
