Motor traffic act to be amended to register electric tuk tuks

The motor traffic act is to be amended to register electric three wheelers (tuk tuk) in Sri Lanka.

The Government noted that requests had been made to make us of electric three wheelers in the process to promote electric vehicles in Sri Lanka.

According to the Government, there is a requirement to reduce the use of vehicles operating with fuel n Sri Lanka.

However, the Government said that the motor traffic act needs to be amended.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers have approved a resolution submitted by the Minister of Transport and Highways to take necessary measures to amend the current motor traffic act to enable the registration of electric three wheel vehicles. (Colombo Gazette)
