Main suspect who set fire to Ranil’s house arrested

The main suspect who set fire to the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been arrested.

The Police said that the main suspect was among 3 people arrested over the incident.

The suspects were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Several people protested near Wickremesinghe’s private residence at Flower Road on 9th July.

The Police fired tear gas when the protest intensified.

Subsequently, an unknown group set fire to his house and looted some of the items.

The Police had later sought the assistance of the public to identify those involved in setting fire to the house. (Colombo Gazette)
