Ranil Wickremesinghe takes oaths as 8th Executive President

Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka today.

He was sworn in before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya at the Parliament complex.

Wickremesinghe was elected President by Parliament yesterday securing 134 votes.MP Dullas Alahapperuma secured 82 votes while MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake secured just 03 votes.Of the 225 members of Parliament 223 had cast their votes of which four were declared invalid.Ranil Wickremesinghe, National Peoples Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and MP Dullas Alahapperuma had been nominated for President.
