Navy detains another 78 people attempting to migrate by boat

The Navy detained another 78 people attempting to migrate by boat from Batticaloa.

According to the Navy media unit, the 78 people were detained at 2 separate locations.

In one operation launched in Batticaloa, the Navy detained 61 individuals who were believed to be on an illegal migration attempt to a foreign country.

Among them were 43 men, 07 women and 11 children.

Meanwhile, in another operation launched in Batticaloa together with the Police Special Task Force (STF) in Batticaloa, 17 individuals attempting to migrate to a foreign country were detained.

Among them were 16 men and 01 woman.?(Colombo Gazette)
