LIOC resumes fuel distribution

Lanka Indian Oil (LIOC) has resumed the distribution of fuel from today (Sunday).

LIOC had earlier suspended the distribution of fuel to LIOC sheds on Friday and yesterday.

The company said the decision was taken owing to the protests which took place over the past two days.

LIOC Managing Director Manoj Gupta said that in view of the protests the company had been advised to discontinue supply operations to sheds.

However he said LIOC continued distributing supplies from Trincomalee to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and its valued industries. (Colombo Gazette)

Minor tremor reported near Victoria Dam

A minor earth tremor was reported near the Victoria Dam today, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) said. The tremor was recorded at around 1.9 on the Richter scale. Clearance has been given to sell alcohol online, the Excise Department said. The Excise Department said that the Finance Ministry has given approval to sell alcohol online.
