Curfew declared in parts of the Western Province

Curfew has been declared in parts of the Western Province with immediate effect.

The Police said that the curfew has been declared in the Negombo police area, Kelaniya police area, Nugegoda police area, Mount Lavinia police area, Colombo North police area, Colombo South police area and Colombo Central police area.

The Police urged residents in the areas to stay indoors during the curfew.

The Police said that the law will be strictly enforced against those who violate the curfew.

Meanwhile, travelling through the areas where police curfew is in effect is completely prohibited.

Accordingly, motorists have been advised to use alternative routes. (Colombo Gazette)
