PUCSL Chairman claims fuel can be sold at Rs. 250

Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), Janaka Ratnayake, has claimed that petrol and diesel can be sold at approximately Rs. 250.

He told the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) at its meeting in Parliament that petrol and diesel can be provided to the consumer at Rs. 200 less than the current price.

Accordingly, he said that petrol and diesel can be sold at a price of approximately Rs. 250.

He also said that the Government has collected a tax of Rs. 280 for one liter of diesel imported on 1st July.

He said that this was his personal statement.

COPE members also asked Ratnayake about his qualifications on becoming the chairman of the commission.

He pointed out that he had obtained a Special Degree in Public Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and a Postgraduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colombo.

He also said that he had studied at Harvard University. (Colombo Gazette)
