1,000 MT of rice donated by China arrives in Sri Lanka

A ship carrying 1,000 MT of rice donated by China arrived in Sri Lanka today.

The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said that 44 containers of 1,000 metric tonnes rice donated by the Chinese people to Sri Lankan students arrived in the country.

The consignment was handed over to the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka today.

Ambassador Qi Zhenhong said that another two shipments of rice donated by China will arrive in Sri Lanka over the next couple of weeks.

The Embassy said that China is attempting to sustain the Sri Lanka school meal program for at least 6 months. (Colombo Gazette)
