US citizens in Australia warned to be ?vigilant? and ‘exercise caution’

The US Embassy in Canberra is warning its citizens to ‘remain vigilant’ if travelling to Australia. The updated travel advice was issued on its website in response to the Bondi Junction attack. It urges US citizens to be aware of their surroundings and practice sound personal security and situational awareness. They have advised particular caution in congested areas. The advice also recommends people avoid demonstrations and areas with significant police activity. (Sky News)

Woman who returned from France dies of Covid in Jaffna

A woman who returned from France has died in Jaffna after being infected with the coronavirus. The 62-year-old woman had returned to Sri Lanka after several years, reports from Jaffna said. She was admitted to hospital for treatment in Jaffna after having high fever and passed away. Further tests had later revealed she had the coronavirus. (Colombo Gazette)

India lifts export ban on onions for Sri Lanka

The Government of India has lifted the export ban on onions for Sri Lanka, the Indian High Commission in Colombo said. The High Commission said that the export of upto 10000 MT of onions has been permitted vide the enclosed notification of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. The exemption for Sri Lanka reiterated India?s Neighbourhood First policy, adding to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities in Sri Lanka, the High Commission said.
