No bail for Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathilake

The Colombo Fort Magistrate?s Court today refused to grant bail to MPs Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayatilleke and ordered that they be further remanded until 08th June over the 09th May attacks.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarians, Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathilake, were remanded till today (1st June) over the attack on peaceful demonstrators near Temple Trees and Galle Face.

The two MPs were arrested and remanded after being accused of being involved in the 9th May mob attack on the peaceful demonstrators.

The mob had launched the attack on the demonstrators after attending a meeting at Temple Trees with then Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Attorney General (AG) had directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest the suspects, including Members of Parliament (MP), accused of being involved in the mob violence on 9th May. (Colombo Gazette)
