SJB ready to support 21st Amendment if changes are made

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is ready to support the 21st Amendment to the Constitution if the required changes are made to the draft document.

Former MP and SJB member Ajith P Perera said that the SJB has not fully rejected the 21st Amendment.

“We are not in agreement with some clauses in the 21st Amendment. We had pointed out our concerns last Friday to the Government,” he said.

He told reporters today that the SJB will vote in support of the 21st Amendment if the changes the SJB has proposed are made.

Among the proposed changes by the SJB is to include the clause that the President cannot have any Ministry under him.

Ajith P Perera also said that the SJB stands for the Executive Presidency to be abolished. (Colombo Gazette)

President to request Putin to lift restrictions on tea
