21st Amendment to the Constitution presented to Cabinet

The 21st Amendment to the Constitution was presented to Cabinet today.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was presented to the Cabinet following a meeting of the Constitution Amendment drafting committee held this evening at the Prime Minister’s office.

The Cabinet took the decision to distribute copies of the amendment amongst the Parliament Party Leaders for their observations.

The Prime Minister said that the draft will be discussed on Friday (27).

He said that following this, the amendments will be sent back to the Cabinet for final approval. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The slow speed that this government is moving at to address this crisis is building up frustration once again and might end up getting them a sound thrashing! Are they so insensitive to the seriousness of the crisis and that every day delayed makes things worse!?

    Even this game Wijedasa Rajapaksa is playing with the 21st amendment is going to get him in trouble.

  2. All the protesters and citizens of the country should be told who drafted this rubbish 21st amendment to retain the presidents powers…
