Police fire tear gas on protesting university students

The Police fired tear gas and water cannons on protesting university students at Parliament Road.

The Police fired tear gas after the students pulled down one line of a Police barricade and attempted to remove another line.

A large crowd of students marched from Nugegoda to Parliament Road yesterday and pulled down one of three Police barriers.

The students made several attempts to pull down the second barrier but failed.

The Police then fired tear gas and water cannons on the protesting university students at Parliament Road.

The gas also affected journalists covering the protest and people on the street.

The Police fired multiple rounds of tear gas and water on the students. (Colombo Gazette)

Cops at Armour Street Police station told to self-isolate

The instructions were issued after two family members of the Police station tested positive for the coronavirus. Foreigners among latest coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka

Foreigners are among the latest coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka. The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of the COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said that 121 coronavirus patients were detected in Sri Lanka over a 24-hour period ending at 6am today.
