Parliament adjourned till Monday

Parliament was adjourned till Monday November 21st by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya after a brief session today. The session took place in a tense environment as Government Parliamentarians staged a protest in the House. After taking a vote on the no-confidence motion on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Speaker adjourned sittings till 1pm on Monday.

Several policemen, MPs injured in Parliament

Several policemen and Parliamentarians were injured during the chaos in Parliament today. Chili powder was thrown at some policemen as well as Parliamentarians Gamini Jayawickreme Perera and Vijitha Herath. Former Minister Malik Samarawickreme also sustained injuries in the incident. UK urged to stop forced returns of Tamils to Sri Lanka

The British Government has been urged?to stop all forced returns of Tamils to Sri Lanka from the UK.
