Man who duped students arrested

A suspect, who duped several students for thousands of Rupees promising to send them overseas, has been arrested by the Colombo police fraud bureau. The police media unit said that the suspect was arrested last evening in Colpetty following investigations launched by the fraud bureau. Another bus fare hike in July

Private bus operators are to go for another bus fare hike from July this year, the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) said. LPBOA President Gemunu Wijeyratne told reporters today that they will push for the bus fare price hike owing to the increase in electricity rates and other overhead costs. UNP advised against staging rally in Jaffna

The United National Party (UNP) has been advised against holding its May Day rally in Jaffna owing to possible threats from the LTTE. UNP MP John Amaratunga said that the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) had issued the advice to the Personal Security Officers (PSO) of UNP members.
