Police to take action against spread of misinformation on virus

The Police have decided to take action against the spread of misinformation related to the coronavirus in Sri Lanka. The Police urged the public not to be misled by misinformation spread on social media. The Police media unit said that stern action will be taken against anyone spreading false information. Various reports are being spread on social media with regards to the virus in Sri Lanka. Some reports have led to panic in schools and other public places. (Colombo Gazette)

EC invites foreign observers for Parliamentary election

By Easwaran Rutnam The National Elections Commission (EC) has invited foreign observers for the upcoming Parliamentary election. Commission member S. Ratnajeevan H. Hoole told the Daily Mirror that observers from the European Union, Commonwealth and the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) have been invited by the Elections Commission. Separately, local election monitors will also observe the election and are also likely to invite their own foreign observers for the polls set for April 25

Government schools to be closed till April

All government schools will be temporarily closed from tomorrow (13) till 20 April, the Ministry of Education announced. Addressing the media this afternoon, Minister Dullus Alahapperuma said the temporary closure of schools will commence with the first term school holidays beginning tomorrow.?
