Australia issues new travel advice on Sri Lanka

Australia has issued a new travel advice on Sri Lanka as a result of the ongoing protests.
The travel advice notes that public demonstrations continue to occur throughout Sri Lanka.
It also warns that demonstrations that draw large groups of people can turn violent.
“They can also lead to disruptions to traffic and public transport. Avoid demonstrations and events that draw large groups. A Public Emergency can be declared and curfews imposed with limited notice. Carry relevant travel and identification documents with you at all times. Follow the advice of local authorities and monitor the media for updates,” the travel advice said.
The travel advice also notes that visitors may experience a disruption to fuel supply and planned, lengthy power outages.
It also notes that import delays may impact the ability to access some medicines and food items. (Colombo Gazette)
