Price of pharmaceutical drugs to increase by 20%

The price of pharmaceutical drugs will increase by 20%, following approval being given by the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).

The NMRA said that it has given approval for importers to increase the price of pharmaceutical drugs by 20%.

The Sri Lanka Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) had earlier requested policymakers to adjust the price of essential medicines currently under price control, to ensure continued availability of these drugs in the market.

SLCPI commended the Ministry of Health?s decision to increase the control price of Paracetamol. At the same time, the SLCPI also requested policymakers to adjust the price of other essential medicines currently under price control. (Colombo Gazette)

The Sri Lankan Government has lifted the ban on access to social media. The move came after Minister Namal Rajapaksa and several others raised objections to the ban.
